It all started with a doodle on a napkin and a favour for a friend. Seven years later, I'm still their marketing partner to this day
Over seven years ago, I was having a dinner with a childhood friend in the city. She told me about a new idea she and Thom wanted to bring to life. They didn't have a website yet. I'd never built one before, but I wanted to learn. So we made a deal. Neither of us had any idea that, seven years later, I'd still be part of the journey. Local Taste may not be my company, but it has always felt a little like my own.
Today, my role goes far beyond building that first website. From marketing strategy and campaign planning to email marketing and managing the webshop, I'm involved in almost every part of the company's marketing.
What started as a favour for a friend has grown into a long-term partnership where I'm responsible for almost every aspect of Local Taste's marketing. To be honest, it's difficult to capture everything I do in just a few sentences, because my work touches almost every part of the business. From managing the website and email marketing to developing new concepts, coordinating external partners and brainstorming about new ideas and the future direction of the company.
After all these years, I know Local Taste inside out. I understand the concept, the audience and the ambitions behind it. Whenever a new idea comes up, I'm usually one of the first to hear about it. I don't feel like an external freelancer. I genuinely feel like part of the story.
And the story is still being written. What started in one city has grown into six, with plenty of exciting plans still ahead.
